Maine Mandatory Training Legislation Scheduled for Hearing!

Legislative Document 778, introduced by State Senator Karl Turner (R-11) now has a scheduled hearing in the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee for Monday, April 2, 2007 at 1:00pm in the State House, Room 436.  This measure would require all new applicants and renewing holders of a Right-to-Carry permit show documentation they have completed a firearms safety course that includes at least 6 hours of course work!  This bill also removes exemptions to current handgun safety course requirements for an applicant or holder of a Right-to-Carry permit who can personally demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter of the course requirements and also a person who received basic firearms training as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States!

LD 146 - Introduced by State Representative Richard Cebra (R-101) - An Act To Enhance Self-Defense.

 

LD 148 - Sponsored by State Representative Cebra - An Act To Provide Fairness in Concealed Weapon Reciprocity Agreements.

 

LD 1000 - Introduced by State Senator Margaret Rotundo (D-16)  - An Act To Increase Firearm Safety on College Campuses.

 

LD 1111 -- Sponsored by State Senator Ethan Strimling (D-8) - An Act To Protect Children by Requiring Trigger Locks on Handguns.
